WordPress 2.6 has been released with some new features and a bunch of bug fixes. If you’re already using WordPress for your blog, you’ll want to upgrade.
Plugin Central seems to be taking WordPress users one step closer to tossing out the ftp client for good. It works right out of the dashboard.
Note: it only works with WordPress 2.5.
Now if only there was only something like this for WordPress themes.
WordPress.org, WordPress.com, Automattic
Now Automattic has purchased Gravatar …
I try to pay attention to Matt Mullenweg’s online projects, whatever they are - because he and the WordPress people have great ideas and a skilled community of people who are willing to make amazing things happen.
I think it will be very interesting to see future developments with Gravatar and how it’s features are integrated with WordPress (and other programs/platforms as well).
I was using WordPress posts to study Genesis verses in a variety of languages that I’ve studied (Hebrew, Arabic and Spanish) and to look at what online commentaries had to say about those verses.
Then one day I upgraded to WordPress 2.2 and the language coding in a whole bunch of past posts turned to unrecognizable mush. I found that rather discouraging and never got around to fixing it.
This morning I stumbled across a blog post that showed a very simple fix for the problem. All a person had to do is remove four characters from the wp-config.php file.
So now the previously described code mush looks like Hebrew and Arabic again. You can see what I’m talking about here.
This may just mean that I’ll have to return to my occasional or even constant verse study exercises.
During the past week I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.1.
It wasn’t as big of a problem/difficulty as I expected it might be. In fact, it was pretty easy.
Two problems I noticed - a) posts with multiple categories were showing up twice and b) an error message appeared after a comment was published.
Both problems were plugin-related. I updated the sideblog plugin and the subscribe-to-comments plugin and it appears the problems have gone away.
If you notice any other bugs/problems, please let me know.
