Tag Archive for "WordPress 2.3"
I’ve begun to experiment with the Simple Tags Plugin and am finding that it provides the user with extraordinary capability to quickly add and edit tags on posts. It’s really quite a powerful and easy-to-use plugin. I highly suggest it to anyone who has upgraded to WordPress 2.3.
I would not be surprised if this plugin code is adopted into the core of future versions of WordPress. It offers so much control and versatility with the tags feature. I’ve only begun using it and am already feeling that it’s going to become essential.
I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.3
I used the extremely nifty WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin to do basically all the heavy lifting.
There was a momentary scare where I thought maybe I had deleted my mysql database or done something else that was terribly and permanently destructive. However, the only problem was my antiquated version of the sideblog plugin that was clearly and completely incompatible with the new install. I deactivated the plugin and things were back to normal.
There are already some very positive changes/additions to WordPress that I’m seeing here. As usual, the WordPress developer community is doing amazing work.
In the past couple of days I’ve been working towards the process of importing the old blog site into this one. Thanks to some help and guidance from J. Max Wilson, the process is now complete or mostly complete. Specifically, he split the rather cumbersome WXR file into four smaller components and also tweaked the code of the wordpress.php import file and the export.php file so that they would ignore comments classified as spam.
I wouldn’t be surprised to find some adjustments have to be made here and there so that the old pictures and artwork fit into this theme I’ve chosen. Otherwise, this process should be mostly complete. If you should see something that is obviously mis-formatted, please let me know.
