I have a particular problem with McCain. The way he treated his first wife. I’ve been an undecided voter for a long time - but this particular issue is something I’m pondering over and I don’t really see any way around it.

At least he owns up to having been a jerk. I’ve also heard where he’s said that that part of his life is the part he’s most ashamed of. And his ex-wife has been quoted (right there at the end of that Snopes article) as saying he’s the right man for President. And, as far as we know, he’s done with his womanizing ways now.
I’ll still vote for him since his platform is MUCH closer to what I’d like than the other guy’s. Failings in personal morality (of which McCain’s openly ashamed) are an issue, but extreme positions such as having been openly in favor of killing aborted babies that survive (Obama, while in the state senate,) is a bigger issue for a future President for me. (That’s not my only issue with Obama, but it’s one example.)
Of course, if Romney were still in the race, I’d vote for him over McCain. But, while I used to say that I’d hold my nose when I voted for McCain, I think I’m now to where I might just wrinkle it a little.

I really dislike McCain. I have REAL issues with the way he treated his first wife. Also, I don’t think it is by accident that his first wife is supporting him—-he is paying all her medical bills for the rest of her life, and one of their sons has a career with his new wife’s company—so it is in her best interest to not rock the boat. It sounds like he is still quite character-flawed—extremely mean —he has called his new wife names in public –the worst word—the C word. Not exactly Mr. Gentleman or Mr. Nice guy. I don’t want a mean guy for president, but I also don’t want Obama.

Yeah, it’s a shame that the best the Republican party can come up with is McCain. Aren’t there any good guys left? But I still think McCain is the lesser of the two evils.
I was rooting for Fred Thompson. We could use another actor in the White House, because good acting is 98% of the job, because 98% of what a president says is scripted beforehand. That’s what speech-writers are for.
