Willie Nelson’s Country Peach Cobbler Ice Cream

I just found a new favorite Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor: Willie Nelson’s Country Peach Cobbler Ice Cream. It is described as “Peach Ice Cream with Cinnamon Sugar Shortbread Pieces & a Peach Swirl.”

With ice cream I tend to favor the pure fruit flavors, though every now and then I’ll go for chocolate. My previous favorite Ben and Jerry’s flavor was just plain raspberry ((In fact I love just about product that is primarily based on the raspberry - pie, jam, ice cream, etc. - for a nice detour check out the wikipedia entry for “raspberry“)) - but I haven’t seen that Ben and Jerry’s flavor in stores for years. I don’t think it exists anymore.

I’m generally less crazy about ice creams that have a lot of nuts and cookies mixed in - though I certainly don’t mind adding toppings to make a sundae.

All I can say is that this new Ben and Jerry’s brand is a keeper. I really hope it stays around. The Ben and Jerry’s website actually has a “flavor graveyard” page for all the ice creams it doesn’t make anymore.

For some reason the thought of Willie Nelson endorsing desserts does not lead me to peach ice cream. Pot brownies, now that’s a real Willie Nelson dessert.

Well, I will certainly have to try it! My current favorite is Blue Bunny, Cherry Bordeaux—it is the devil. You will feel you have sinned when you are eating it. Let’s just say I have to repent more than I should!

    Ben There,

Yesterday I tried a different Ben and Jerry’s flavor called “Dave Matthew’s Band Magic Brownies” which involves vanilla icecream, brownies and a raspberry swirl. It was amazing.

I suppose that the “magic brownies” title is attempting to evoke the rock’n'roll pot brownie concept - though I agree that Willie Nelson would seem to be the appropriate sponsor.

Laura, I’ll have to look for that flavor. Don’t think I’ve tried it.

Willie got a good push on The Colbert Report, because his flavor came out after Ben & Jerry released “Steven Colbert’s Americone Dream” early this year. [Steven, of course, claimed to be offended that B&J had released another flavor this year in competition with his.]

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find either flavor in local stores. Living in New York City, I would have assumed that I could at least find the Colbert flavor.

I’ll have to look harder. Given my waistline, I tend to not look to hard at the frozen desert cabinet.
