Thanks Rusty and Sara
Last night Diane and I attended the “East Coast Bloggasnacka.” In the process, in addition to hosts Rusty and Sara, we were able to meet John Dehlin (Mormon Stories, the Cultural Hall), Amri Brown (w/ fiance Brett), Logan and Amy Bobo, Tom (from Nine Moons), Emily S. (from FMH), CJ Douglass, Mark Butler (“but not that Mark Butler”) and Russ Moorehouse (Cultural Hall – am I spelling the name right? if not, my bad). I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone.
The real news is that my wife came along with me … that’s right – the wife who hates blogging and thinks meeting people over the internet is creepy. And … she had a great time. Turns out she comes from the same part of Orem as Amy and Logan Bobo – or something like that.
For those who don’t know, John Dehlin is 6 feet 6 inches tall. He’s also a very nice guy. Which is good. Because otherwise he’d probably beat us all up. He’s also involved with a very cool “open education” project over at MIT. I read about this project previously in the newspapers, not having any idea that he was a part of it.

Wow. What did Rusty and Sara do that Allison and I didn’t such that your wife was willing to go to their Bloggernacle gathering and not the several that we hosted?
Oh well. It sounds like you all had a great time.
John,
I don’t think it was anything you didn’t do … probably the passage of time just wore down her defensiveness on the subject. At least temporarily.
Perhaps I should add that she had not previously been to Brooklyn. And as you know so well, everyone has to go to Brooklyn at least once in their lives. So now she can check that life requirement off her list.
I’m glad Diane got over her aversion and came to the nerdfest. It was great to meet you two.
There were actually four Oremites in attendance. I grew up about a mile from where Logan grew up. And all four of us Oremites graduated high school within a year of each other.
If Diane needs to check Baltimore or DC off her list, you’re welcome to crash with us.
Thanks Tom. It was fun seeing you and I wish we could have talked a little more. I may have to bother you with an email at some point.
“…that’s right – the wife who hates blogging…”
So Daniel, maybe you should have taken your other wife? [Unforgivable comment, but irresistible--forgive me, please, Diane.]
Anyway, your cousin Lili was pretty good friends with Logan. I always thought he was a really cool guy. Who is Tim? Your cousins may know him also.
Er, uh, is that Tom (’stead o’ Tim)?
