I find myself watching American Idol and going through all kinds of different feelings. But every now and then a contestant comes along who sings so well that he/she makes my jaw drop to the floor. So far my favorite of the singers we’ve heard is a guy with the unusual name Sundance Head. Thanks to YouTube, I can share the joy.

But…hes from Porter, TX. I mean, can a star really come from such a place?? I had the unfortuante experience of living in the bordering town, and trust me when I say Porter is a backwards scary place. He could have said he was from houston, or Kingwood, or Humble, or any nearby place…but he actually admitted he was from the racist backwoods swamp of Porter…
I think a great personality or talent can come from anywhere. Too bad if he comes from a place that is so associated with racism. Hopefully he’s not like that at all.
How bad is it to stereotype someone just because of where they come from? I’ve live in and around Porter since 1977. Some of the nicest folks that I’ve ever met in my life come from around here…. And they come in all colors. So please don’t make it out to be a bad place just because someone may have had a bad experience or something. Thanks.
I’m sorry, but that guy has no place in a professional musical environment. Well, OK, there are all kinds of pros, let’s say bigger than a local bar band. He’s obviously a one trick pony, and is doomed for an ugly end in any of the more demanding rounds if not the first “finalist” round. It was just nasty watching the final elimination round with him up against that Thomas guy who was obviously a way better singer based on their own performances, and the judges’ reviews, who all said he did poorly after the first round. OK, so they had to fill a quota of white guys. Why make the racism so obvious? It just reflects badly on everyone.
Mr. Head doesn’t deserve it, it’s not his fault, but still, he’s the ugly white duckling who has no chance of becoming a swan.
Bubba, you might be right. He didn’t look very good this round. Maybe he is able to sing a certain kind of song very well but can’t do anything else.
I didn’t like Sundance’s comment to the other guy, that he could become his bodyguard. I think he was trying to ease the difficulty of the situation with humor, but it didn’t come across well at all.
I agree; he was awesome. Quite the surprise, he didn’t “appear” to be a good singer!

PS - his voice is phenomenal…
Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?

I am from porter & I am not racist nor is anyone that I know. Sundance has talent, but you people need to grow up.
Sundance did a great job of singing Stormy Monday in the initial auditions but since then he seems to have forgotten how to sing in that style.
If he doesn’t figure out how to sing songs that will allow him to display his talent, he’s not going to go very far.
I was so disgusted with the guys who sang (in the first round) I thought they should have sent four of them packing and kept all the girls.
