Blognitive Dissonance

“Mann trakht und Gott lakht”

Habari

Most Bloggernacle sites seem to be powered by Wordpress. This makes sense, as WordPress has been one of the best if not the best blogging software around. However, we should take note that a number (1,2,3,4,5,6) of formerly prominent WordPress users have announced they are moving over to a new open-source blogging software called Habari. While I’m certainly not about to dump WordPress, these are serious coders who have been very involved with WordPress for quite awhile. For them to jump ship, in my opinion, is not a small thing. So I’ll certainly be paying attention to what happens with this other blogging software.

I might follow the group if somewhere I could find a page that told me what the features are, or even what the claimed advantages are.

    Kent,

I think that Habari has a ways to go before I’d jump over to them.

I agree that they need to start with a page that clearly explains the basics. I get the impression that a real techie could get it all figured out and might love what they are doing - but for the vast majority of us who need things explained in English, I don’t yet see a Habari home-page that provides that kind of assistance.

That’s probably because there’s nothing to show. We’re still working out ALL the details, and invite EVERYONE to poke their heads and have their two cents. Everyone’s got a vote. We’ve just announced that we’re all working on it and have been for a couple of months and that one of us has made the move. Don’t worry when there’s something to see you’ll be sure to understand what everything is and how it works. Spread the word!
