Roger Phillips

I went into a gallery at 1014 Madison Avenue (NYC) for a few minutes and saw some artworks/sculptures by metalsmith and constructivist artist Roger Phillips. I really admire the way he works with bright colors, simple shapes and metals (stainless steel and aluminum plate). Besides the larger sculptures there are also smaller preliminary designs that are referred to as maquettes.

Hi, Danithew. I have seen your comments on various Blogernacle sites, and after you commented on my intro post on APoF I clicked on you name and found this site. I am an art-lover, but often don’t care for contemporary works. I quite like the things Roger Phillips is doing, however. Thanks for introducing me to an artist I might never have known about!

Hey Roann … thanks for coming in for a visit.

Not everyone likes modern art or abstract art. Don’t I know it. Even I don’t like all of it.

Of course to a great degree taste in art is subjective. I’m sometimes amazed at what ends up in museums.
